The Cognitive Institute of Dallas and With Healthy Families First Broadcast and Media have decided a partnership of independent films regarding, are making a significant impact on global humanitarian efforts as an awareness campaign against federally funded separation of black and brown families in America.

The purpose of collaboration offers deep and critical insights into social issues, often navigating around the discrimination, social bias and commercial demands faced by indie films and persons of color. This unique storytelling helps shine a light on marginalized communities and their challenges, which can shape global discussions and initiatives related to bias court rulings, discriminatory government funded systems and state funded aid as an attempt to separate families.

We are looking for families who wouldn’t mind sharing there story and recount deeply troubling accounts of corruption within Child Protective Services, highlighting instances where children are removed without just cause and placed in harmful environments. Ultimately concludeing that Child Protective Services lacks both responsibility and accountability. Common points:

  • There is a lack of financial support and a genuine motivation to bring families together, ensuring they receive the care they need.
  • While removing children from their homes may seem like a way to enhance their lives, it has become evident that this does not necessarily lead to their safety. Sadly, there are instances where children in foster care have faced horrific abuses, including sexual assault and unwanted pregnancies.
  • Unfortunately, low-income parents often find themselves at risk of losing their children simply because they lack the resources to hire legal representation and navigate the system. Being financially disadvantaged does not equate to being an unloving or inadequate parent, nor does it justify the removal of a child to be placed with strangers. Every parent can make mistakes, and a single error should not lead to the separation of a child from their home. Even if a home is not ideal, it remains a place of safety and comfort for a child, where they truly belong—with their family.
  • It’s important to recognize that every parent can make mistakes, and a mistake doesn’t mean a child should be taken away from their home. Even if the environment isn’t ideal, it’s still home, and that’s where a child feels the safest and most wants to be, surrounded by family.
  • There is a concern about double dipping in funding. Support continues as long as the child remains outside their home. Initially, there are funds allocated for foster care, and once a child is adopted into a new family, additional ‘adoption bonus funds’ become accessible. Furthermore, when a child is admitted to a mental health facility and requires multiple medications daily, as seen with two children of one of my constituents, this situation also involves more funding and Medicaid support.

In the United States, Black individuals continue to face significant economic challenges, including disparities in wealth and income, as well as discriminatory practices in land and home ownership, healthcare access, and educational opportunities. Unfortunately, the US government has not taken adequate steps to address the enduring and current impacts of systemic racism and inequality, and it has acknowledged its shortcomings in providing the necessary resources for civil rights enforcement, despite obligations to offer restitution and support but we will.
